CHRISsue Final Note

There are many people with interesting, unique jobs all relating back to the music and entertainment world and I feel blessed to have the opportunity to not only interview many of them, but also call them friends. While the work is quite varied amongst them, there is one common element that I have found to be true in all of the interviews conducted thus far: passion.

Working in the music industry is not about money, it’s not about chicks and it’s not about being a ‘rock star’ either. At the end of the day, it is all about crafting the perfect song, playing or witnessing a great show or capturing the magic in the studio…creating your own musical history no matter how great or small. The feeling one gets from this musical immersion is why we all continue with our craft. And the cool thing is that this feeling exists across all genres!

Working in the music industry, to me, reminds of a mix between the great Eagles song, ‘Hotel California’ [“You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave!”] and Michael Corleone in The Godfather: Part III [“Just when I thought I was out…[it pulls] me back in”]. It’s a part of us, it’s our life…and I believe that is evident after having only conducted a dozen, or so, interviews to date and hearing similar passionate results from everyone. And that’s a good thing. Music: the universal language.

Big thanks to all of the Chris(es): Ballew, Gibson, Hanzsek, McClurken, Riche, Wood and (Chrys) Johnson for taking the time to answer questions! Happy holidays everyone – we will see you in 2011 with issue number three. As always, stay tuned…and turn it up!
